Dear Trail Bird Members,
Can you believe the year is half over and we are now in the dog days of summer? 2020 will surely go in the record books as the craziest year ever, and I can’t wait until we get back to our old normal and for those of us set in our ways this so called new normal is not working very well.
In an effort to get back to normal, Muscle Car City in Punta Gorda is hosting the 11th Annual National Collector Car Appreciation Day on July 11th from 9:00 AM to Noon. For those interested in participating in this event, we will gather as a Club at the Old Muscle Car parking lot next to Bank OZK in Punta Gorda at 8:30 AM and caravan down to the New Muscle Car City so we can park as a group. If you are not feeling well please stay home. I look forward to a good turnout.
As some of you are aware there has been a shakeup within the CTCI Board of Directors over the past few weeks due to procedural and personal differences among Board Members. Several people have asked me to respond to the complaints that have been brought to the Boards attention. It is my intent to remain silent at this time concerning these issues since I don’t have direct knowledge of the complaints filed. I appreciate the efforts of anyone willing to take on a leadership role within CTCI and the local chapters and I remain hopeful the current CTCI Board members can regroup and find resolution to their differences and not cause irreputable harm to CTCI. If changes to the Board are deemed necessary by the membership then we should let the annual election of officers run its course and let the majority rule.
“Birds On The Bay II”, no new developments since last month in regards to the 2020ne CTCI International Convention at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota.
On a personal note, thanks to Steve and Bonnie Stump for selling me their all electric 1956 Thunderbird. As most of you know Steve and Bonnie were electrical contractors in the Chicago area for many years, so it was only natural they would own an electric car. I have had my eye on this car for sometime and was excited when Steve called a few weeks ago and said it was time to sell. The car has been in storage for many years, and I look forward to getting it running so Denise can cruse around the garage. Did I mention it’s a Thunderbird Junior?
Please continue to be safe, protect your health and hopefully we can meet for the July 11th show at MCC.
Safe & Healthy Motoring,
Jeff Barlow, Club President
